Learning the nuance of Social Media Platforms

I was recently having a chat with a friend about the realities of content, and it reminded me of another discussion I had some time ago with a group of YouTube creators.
Many people are of the opinion that they can do what they want for content, but then complain that the views don’t match.

I replied that part of the problem was that people aren’t listening to the platform.  Lets be realistic, the platform will tell you which content performs best,  The easiest example of this is Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri.  He even addresses questions from people that discuss the elephant in the room – the algorithm.

The reality is that the platform needs you to be more successful, to help their own success.  If they are telling you that short form video is what is really trending, and that it will be prioritized in the algorithm – why don’t you create more of that.

Most of the major social platforms have free courses, and even certificates for those that want to learn how to weaponize their platforms.  So, don’t hesitate to check out things like YouTube Creators to find out about what updates are happening on the platform.

Remember that their goal is to make money, they will tell you what you should do to better use your channel.  So, if growth and monetization are what you want – they want that too – work together with them.
